Bridge in Normandy - by Harold Williams - Watercolour

Harold’s introduction to painting was delayed due to six years in the wartime army, and three and a half making up for lost time in education. He says “There came a time when I could count up to ten and decided it was enough.” He was accepted for art guidance at the Sir John Cass School in London and subsequently at Toynbee hall and William Morris art schools. All as evening classes.

Business brought him to Spalding for eight years, where he enjoyed painting at the Gleed School, then back to London schools. Finally back to Spalding and introduction to watercolour by Derek Able. “I think most watercolourists owe a great debt to Derek, who regrettably is no longer with us.”

For many years now Harold has been teaching in the Lincolnshire Gallery and the Norman Rossiter Gallery in Surfleet.

“A lifetime of painting that has not only brought me pleasure in the joy of work, but introductions to other painters and friends.”
