Wendy Nix is a Lincolnshire artist working in watercolour. She studied at Bristol University achieving a B.Sc. in Zoology. Thereafter she worked with research groups at both Bristol and Cambridge Universities and then became a science teacher in Bedfordshire. She returned to her home area twenty years ago.
Living in the fens, inspiration for her art came from fenland skies, landscapes and churches in the area. Ecological studies at Gibralter Point in North Lincolnshire promoted interest in wilderness paintings and wildlife studies. Holidays in Wiverton, Norfolk, and walks along the Norfolk Coastal Path inspired work on Norfolk seascapes, beachcombing collections and Norfolk wildlife.
Wendy has exhibited her paintings at several galleries in the U.K., and has had work accepted for The Laing Open (2000), The South Holland Open Arts Competition (2001, 2009, 2010), The Royal Society of Marine Artists (2002), The National Exhibition of Wildlife Artists (2003, 2005), and The Lincolnshire Churches Trust 2010. She is a member of M.I.W.A.S. and T.W.A.S.I.
The above painting is one of the ones she exhibited in the Society's Annual Exhibition, 2010.
